News Story #2 - Vegan Treats

This news story didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped. We initially tried to get an interview at Sands to get the ball rolling on our final project. Unfortunately, we couldn't get an interview this week. We decided to give Vegan treats a go - I'm a vegetarian and have been meaning to go there for well over a year, so it seemed like the perfect time! We called and a young man answered the phone, and said he'd be happy to help. When we arrived, the place was great! Everything looked delicious, and the store was adorable. But Sal, the only employee working that day at Vegan Treats, was a little uptight. He gave us some good footage and allowed us to stay in the store, but was absolutely petrified of his boss. He wouldn't let us speak to her when she entered the store, and had a panic attack the entire time she was there. It was a bizarre experience.

Since Sal refused to take a message for me to leave Danielle, I emailed her last night to try and interview her this morning. Apparently, she is under a contract which won't let her appear on camera. For this reason, we felt a little uncomfortable continuing the story. Although we strongly dislike Sal, we don't want to get him fired. So, for his sake, we are keeping this video private.

This time we made sure to get as much B-Roll as possible. We tried to get good shots for our interviews, but we didn't have too many willing customers, and Sal wouldn't stop moving out of frame, even when I asked him to stay still. We faced a lot of difficulties, but we did everything we could to make this one better than the last.

I wish I could recommend Vegan Treats, because it's delicious. But sadly, the place needs to chill out first before I go back.
