This time around, our news story started off bad but got better. Once we realized and agreed that our Sands idea wouldn't work, we got right to thinking of other ideas. After no time at all, we decided to go to Vegan Treats, a vegan bakery, and interview some employees and customers there.
After spending over an hour with Sal, the cashier, and customers, we planned to go back in the morning and interview the owner. She didn't answer our phone call in the morning, so that plan failed. Her assistant then emailed us and said that she couldn't interview with us because of another contract.
Overall, it was a good experience. We learned that hanging around somewhere for long enough will get you enough B roll and interviews. We also learned, more importantly, that we should ask employees if it really is okay to interview, because it might actually not be.
